Endel and Atlantic Records release scientifically backed Sleep and Lofi albums based on the EP ‘Gimme Christmas’ from one of the world’s biggest superstars

This holiday season, Endel is giving the gift of Christmas calm with the release of two versions of Sia’s recent Christmas EP, "Gimme Christmas." The Grammy-award winning artist is known for her soaring vocals and innovative songwriting with more than 50 billion streams worldwide from hits such as “Unstoppable,” “Cheap Thrills,” and “Chandelier” – Sia is the latest artist to have music reworked by Endel into functional soundscape albums.

Inspired by the joyful, festive energy of songs like “Snowman,” “Santa’s Coming For Us,” as well as her newest song, the global chart-topping anthem “Gimme Love,” Sia’s original holiday tracks have been reworked into seasonal soundscapes to remind us all of how calm and cozy this time of year can be. Endel soundscapes are designed to decrease stress and support chill-time and sleep, the perfect antidote to too much hustle and bustle or the challenge of exams. Using audio stems from the original tracks, Endel transformed them using its proprietary AI-powered technology and in-house sound team to give the songs a scientifically guided functional twist.

The first of the two releases is "Gimme Christmas (Endel Lofi Soundscape)", which takes the original tracks and reimagines them in a laid-back, lofi vibe, creating the ultimate backdrop for cozy gatherings, reflective moments, or simply unwinding with loved ones.

Sia's holiday songs, recently re-released as “Gimme Christmas,” have already become staples in the seasonal music catalog. “Snowman” is one of the top 10 most-streamed Christmas songs of all time. Now, these contemporary Christmas favorites can be enjoyed in the form of two new unique listening experiences.

To celebrate the release, Endel will be hosting a series of audiovisual experiences inside the Endel app for iOS and Android from December 14th, as part of their “Endel Moments” series.

"Gimme Christmas (Lofi Soundscape)" will be released on all major streaming platforms on December 4th, followed by "Gimme Christmas (Sleep Soundscape)" on December 11th.

In collaboration with Rhino Entertainment, Endel’s AI technology reimagines the classic song as soundscapes for focus, relaxation, and sleep.

OCTOBER 24, 2023 - Roberta Flack’s Grammy-award winning recording is frequently listed as one of the greatest songs of all time by the likes of Rolling Stone magazine. Her version is the definitive interpretation of a song that has been commercially covered more than 130 times, including the iconic 1996 version by The Fugees. Now this timeless song can be experienced in a completely new way – reconfigured by Endel as soundscapes designed to support daily life.

Together with Rhino Entertainment and Roberta Flack, Endel has released three soundscape albums built from the original stems of “Killing Me Softly With His Song:” one for focus and productivity, the second for relaxation, and a third for sleep. Based on scientific principles, each album has a distinct sonic style according to its function, and is woven with instantly recognisable vocals and sounds from Flack’s original song.

Respectfully repurposing the wealth of sounds in Flack’s original recording via AI, these soundscapes bring out entirely new facets of the beloved classic, showing how powerful and surprising it can be when well-known tracks are transformed into functional soundscapes. Fans will experience the rolling bass, haunting vocals, and other elements in a whole new way.

Oleg Stavitsky, CEO and Co-Founder of Endel says about the collaboration: “Roberta Flack’s song is a Soul masterpiece, and this is the first time that Endel has reworked a classic song in this way. We strived to treat the source material with utmost respect and wanted to create something special for the song’s 50th anniversary. We love the end result and we see this as further proof that Endel can create functional music that benefits both artists and their listeners.”

Roberta’s personal manager, Suzanne Koga adds: “Roberta has always believed in the power of music to shape and inspire change. In 2010 when she created the Roberta Flack Foundation, she never dreamed of a world where she could participate in a functional music program that could help people improve the quality of their lives. The new frontiers of AI and functional music give Roberta a new door of opportunity to step through as a part of the future of music and technology in a way that helps the world to grow.”

These three releases in collaboration with Rhino Entertainment are further fruits from Endel’s strategic partnership with Warner Music Group (WMG), with Endel reworking iconic music past and present from the group’s illustrious catalog into functional music.

More reimagined classics from Rhino Entertainment will follow, with Endel releasing three new functional versions of WAR’s seminal 1972 album “The World Is a Ghetto”, on November 10th. This special release will be part of the album’s 50th year anniversary celebrations, and will be transformed into sleep, relaxation, and lofi beats soundscapes.

The leading dance music label is giving electronic music fans 50 mental-health boosting soundscape albums, reworking its expansive catalog using Endel AI

Spinnin’ is the first label to activate Warner Music Group’s global Endel deal with artists including Brazilian DJs Felguk and Italian production and DJ duo VINAI

Dance music is synonymous with late nights and euphoric revelry. But it has also been shown to have a positive effect on the brain and to reduce stress. That’s why Endel has teamed up with one of the world’s biggest electronic music labels to transform its hugely popular catalog into soundscapes for focus, relaxation, movement, and sleep.

In Endel’s largest and most ambitious project to date, it has collaborated with legendary label Spinnin’ Records to create 50 soundscape album playlists tailored for focus, relaxation, sleep, physical activity, and other functions. The first two soundscape albums are out now, with new albums dropping every week over the following months. The releases will fall under a newly created profile named Spinnin’ COSMOS. Artists involved in the project so far include Brazilian DJs Felguk and Italian production and DJ duo VINAI.

Steven de Graaf, Commercial Director, Spinnin’ Records and Susanne Hazendonk, VP, Marketing, Spinnin’ Records say, “We’ve always believed in the transformative power of electronic music – from creating unforgettable experiences in clubs and festivals, to soundtracking the activities of listeners in their daily lives. Now this collaboration with Endel has allowed us to tap into its most life-enhancing qualities by using their technology and scientific knowhow. It’s the sound of Spinnin’, but in a whole new way – for relaxation, sleep, and more.”

Electronic music has an estimated 1.5 billion listeners globally, the third most popular music genre worldwide. It’s the first time these billions of dance music lovers will have a whole range of functional music tailored to their tastes. Designed to be an ideal counterpoint to an intense night out, this music will use the sounds fans love to help them ease into a good night’s sleep, or make their way through a demanding day. Endel has reimagined tracks by some of the biggest artists on the Spinnin’ Records roster, using science-based methods.

This is the largest collaboration so far for Endel, which made its name co-creating generative AI soundscapes with artists like Plastikman, Miguel, Grimes, James Blake, and most recently, 6LACK. Its AI engine uses artist sounds (stems) to weave a new version that’s both instantly recognizable as the artist’s, yet uniquely designed for supporting mental health. This tech is now ready to take on entire catalogs and create a whole new class of functional music, which can be enjoyed in long-form playlists that listeners love.

Oleg Stavitsky, co-founder and CEO of Endel says, “We’ve successfully worked with individual artists to transform their unique sound into functional music for focus, relaxation, and sleep. With this collaboration with Spinnin’, we’ve transformed hundreds of tracks from their incredible catalog into life-enhancing albums and playlists at a huge scale while retaining the iconic sound of Spinnin’ Records and its artists.”

This collaboration is the first element in a larger strategic partnership between Warner Music Group and Endel, one that will push how AI can ethically expand current and catalog artists’ creative scope and opportunities. “The scale and ambition of this partnership will define a new class of functional music, one that goes far beyond white noise or study playlists in its impact,” reflects Stavitsky. “Together, we will serve a much wider group of listeners, to help them meet their needs and improve their lives.”

October 10, 2023 (New York, NY) – Decca Records US and the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) have announced their partnership for World Mental Health Day (WMHD). Today, Decca US releases a WMHD-themed playlist of calming music, featuring WMHD artist ambassadors Chad Lawson, Cody Fry, Kings Elliot, Balmorhea, Daigo Hanada, Lara Somogyi, Sophie Hutchings, Samuel Mariño, and more. Additionally, Decca US artist and mental health podcast host Chad Lawson has partnered with sound wellness company Endel to release a groundbreaking meditation soundscape album featuring reimagined tracks from his acclaimed album breathe. Artists Balmorhea and Daigo Hanada also release Amazon Original tracks for WMHD.

Listen to the official WMHD 2023 playlist HERE, Chad Lawson’s Endel soundscape album HERE, and Balmorhea and Daigo Hanada’s Amazon Originals HERE.

World Mental Health Day was created in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. WMHD aims to raise awareness in the global community about critical mental health agendas with a unifying voice through collaboration with various partners. WMHD has collaborated with Decca US to enlist artists to champion the cause, using their broad platforms to raise awareness.

It is heartwarming to observe the global support for the message of mental health advocacy,” said Nasser Loza, President of the World Federation for Mental Health. “We are celebrating 75 years of mental health advocacy with our 2023 World Mental Health Day theme ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right.’ Decca Records US has been at the forefront of our supporters, and we are glad to be working with world class musicians to amplify mental health awareness.”

Chad Lawson's dedication to exploring the intersection of music and wellness makes him a meaningful and fitting ambassador for this year's WMHD. The new Endel Meditation Soundscape version of his 2022 album breathe aims to create a completely new soothing experience for meditation. breathe (Endel Meditation Soundscape) utilizes Endel's patented AI-powered technology to create a mood-boosting soundscape designed to support any kind of meditation practice.

The release follows the announcement earlier this year from Universal Music Group (UMG) and Endel setting out a first of its kind strategic relationship to enable artists and labels to create soundscapes for daily activities like sleep, relaxation, and focus by harnessing the power of AI.

“Chad's beautiful, gentle album was the perfect source material to transform into a meditation soundscape using our AI,” said Oleg Stavitsky, Endel Co-founder and CEO. “Endel’s mission is to empower artists to break into the functional music space using our technology, and ‘breathe’ is an amazing addition to our collection of artist-driven scientifically engineered soundscapes.”

Also out today is a WMHD-themed episode of Lawson’s popular podcast, Calm It Down, which equips individuals with tools to manage emotional and mental challenges through mindfulness, meditation, and focused breathing techniques. To date, Calm It Down has received over 4 million downloads globally and is the ideal platform for advocating 2023’s WMHD theme. The special episode features an exclusive interview with the World Federation for Mental Health’s Secretary General, Gabriel Ivbijaro MBE JP – marking the first time a guest has joined Lawson’s podcast. Additionally, Lawson will be featured in an episode of The Travis Mills Show on Apple Music 1, airing today, where he will chat with Mills about music and mental health.

Says Lawson, “World Mental Health Day feels to me like that moment in a concert just before I lift my hands off the keys, and the room is filled with a collective breath. It's that split-second pause where everyone—musician and audience alike—is reminded that silence, too, is part of the music. That pause adds meaning to the music, just like today adds meaning to our focus on what really matters inside us.”

Chad Lawson's 2022 album breathe signaled a new phase in the distinguished career of the official Steinway artist, who consistently tops the Classical Billboard charts. Earlier this year Lawson released breathe (guided breathwork edition), a series of guided tracks that focus on breathing techniques like sama vritti (box breathing). Listen to the album HERE.

Lawson recently delivered a special Breathing session at the first Music + Health summit hosted by Universal Music Group chairman Sir Lucian Grainge and Thrive Global CEO Arianna Huffington in Los Angeles. The focus of the event was exploring the direct relationships between music and health, discussing recent research that has documented music’s therapeutic and medical benefits and introducing some of the new applications of technology that are helping to harness it.

A new sleep soundscape album based on 6LACK’s latest release Since I Have A Lover will be available on all major DSPs, in the Endel app for a limited time, and celebrated with live events in LA and Berlin.

Groundbreaking R&B singer, rapper and mental health advocate 6LACK has returned with a powerful new album, Since I Have A Lover, promoting self-love and healing in a world facing mental health struggles. To expand the album’s impact and reach people in new ways, 6LACK has collaborated with Endel to reimagine his album as two functional soundscapes.
“This is about letting people experience my music in a new way,” 6LACK said of the collaboration with Endel. “These sounds can be for rest and relaxation, or for helping you feel inspired and creative. It’s for finding a sense of balance in life. Since I Have a Lover has plenty of magical sounds, and combined with Endel’s AI and science, it was easy to create something that felt healing.”
Endel used its proprietary and scientifically validated AI technology rooted in extensive neuroscience research to reimagine 6LACK's album as two functional, scientifically engineered soundscapes, designed to help people sleep and focus better.

The first of these soundscapes, titled SIHAL (Endel Sleep Soundscape)  will be released on all streaming platforms on July 8th. A special live pre-listening session will be hosted on the Endel app on July 6th, guided by 6LACK himself. Endel is also partnering with Reflections, an LA-based company, on two in-person listening sessions in Los Angeles and Berlin, also on July 6th.

The second release, SIHAL (Endel Lo-fi Soundscape) reimagines the album as a soundscape to help listeners focus – whether for work, study, or to inspire creativity, and will be released on July 24th.

The month of July has been declared BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, a cause near and dear to 6LACK as a mental health advocate on his own healing journey. To 6LACK, this month represents releasing old ways, patterns, and habits, and the chance to share experiences or struggles with one’s community, as well as acknowledge next steps toward better mental health.

6LACK’s commitment to mental health, including the importance of healthy relationships and balance in life, expands Endel’s long series of meaningful collaborations with artists that draw on their own circumstances and emotions to bring restorative sound to all.

“Using AI to reimagine your favorite music as a functional soundscape, designed to help solve the biggest mental health challenges we’re facing as a species, is our mission. 6LACK’s openness to experimentation and his ability to let go and trust the process was crucial to the success of this project,” said Endel CEO Oleg Stavitsky. “We’re extremely proud of the result and can’t wait for millions of people to experience the healing power of these soundscapes.”
